Reekie Machining successfully completed the design, manufacture and proving trials of specialised machining equipment for Babcock Marine’s Devonport Royal Dockyard. The equipment was required to cold cut large studs from the reactor pressure vessel insitu onboard HMS Vigilant. Gavin Leckie, Operations Director at Devonport, commented “the design and build of your specialised equipment in support of RPV stud removal is an excellent example of programme risk mitigation that has been recognised by the Babcock and MoD senior management teams.
