Reekie Machining are delighted that they achieved the upgrade to the new 2015 standards for ISO9001 & ISO14001.

We continue to strive to ensure that at all times we are working to the highest standard possible for Quality and Environmental Management with in the Machine Shop and with the In situ Machining Teams working on site across the UK and are pleased to be recognised for this.

As soon as the new certificates arrive from BM Trada, they will be available for our customers.

With the sunshine, came a new uniform for the staff at Reekie Machining.  Now not only are they identifiable by their boiler suits whilst working in the machine shop and in situ but also in their t-shirts, sweatshirts, fleeces and jackets, although you may need to wait a while to see the latter two.

Look out for the smart Reekie Machining staff busy on site in the UK and further a field, engineering solutions.

NEW MACHINERY INVESTMENT

Reekie Machining are known for not standing still, we have continued to move forward by boosting our capacity within the machine shop. We recently purchased the following machines to increase our already broad range of capabilities within the heavy machining arena.

  • GLF 60” CNC Vertical Borer with elevating rail
  • Churchhill O.S.B. Surface Grinder
  • Jones & Shipman Model 1300 Universal Cylindrical Grinder

Reekie now have a good mix of both conventional and CNC machining capability including 5-Axis machining. We can cover the manufacture of both one-off and batch work ranging from 10mm dia up to 2400mm dia and machining centre working envelopes up to 3200 x 2000 x 1000.

“This investment ensures Reekie can offer clients a streamlined machining service for a range of jobs, from very large to small, while also being able to meet exacting specifications.” says Machine Shop Director, Jared Reekie.

Reekie Machining is a private family-owned business providing machining services from its plant in Inchinnan, Renfrewshire.  Our key areas of operation are oil & gas, petrochemicals and process industries, power generation, shipbuilding and submarine refit, with customers ranging across small Scottish engineering businesses to international energy exploration companies.

The company provides ‘subcontract’ machining where the manufacture or repair takes place at Inchinnan, ‘in situ’ machining where teams of skilled Site Technicians go anywhere in the world for large tasks such as power stations and ships, and also machine tool design, manufacture, rental and sales.

REEKIE TO THE RESCUE

Reekie Machining had a slow start to machining on Monday morning as the staff admired a very special visitor that had landed over the weekend.  Vicky, a Mark II,  1939 Battle of Britain Spitfire replica, had developed a problem with her tail wheel bracket during filming for David Walliams, Grandpa’s Great Escape, Christmas Day special at former India Tyre Factory in Inchinnan.   It required immediate attention to keep the filming on track and the first name to be thought of, that could help, was Reekie Machining.

The tail wheel bracket required repair and rather than the work being carried out on site, she was brought into the machine shop where with some turning and welding she was ready to return to set the next morning.

For a 78 year old war hero and film star, she had very few demands!  She was  flown by Iain Duncan Smiths father during the Battle of Britain and this is not her first time being filmed, having appeared earlier this year in the film “Dunkirk”.

Vicky is just one of the Spitfires that has been lovingly restored and looked after by The Lytham St. Annes Spitfire Display Team.  For more information about them see www.spitfiredisplayteam.co.uk
