NEW GANTRY MILL

Reekie Machining purchased a new 3 Axis Bridge Type Machining Centre, the Dugard Eagle Bridge Mill, in March 2008. The new machine has a capacity of 3.2×1.9x1m. This machine extends our [[http://www.reekiemachining.co.uk/services/sub_contract_machining,sub contract machining]] capacity.

COAL FIRE POWER STATION OUTAGE

Reekie Machining have secured a contact to carry out a large scope of work at two outages at one the UKs coal fired power stations. The scope of work will mainly cover [[http://www.reekiemachining.co.uk/services/in_situ_machining, in-situ machining]] to remove seized studs on valves.

PORTABLE CMM

The service recently aquired a portable coordinate measuring machine – the 2.8m Romer arm. The 6 axis measuring arm can accurately measure over a distance of 2.8m and produce 3D models of components. Several Machining Technicians have received training and have performed surveys for both the machine shop and the insitu team as well as carrying out surveys for customers.

NEW OPERATIONS MANAGER APPOINTED

Long standing Reekie staff member, Craig McIlroy, has been promoted to the post of Operations Manager, taking over from Andy Tait who has retired. Craig, who started his career with Reekie as an apprentice, has worked as an contract manager and as a project engineer. Craigs new role involves managing all labour and services to meet the needs of both internal and external customers.

REEKIE WINS RAILCARE CONTRACT

Reekie Machining is providing ongoing services to RailCare Scotland, one of the leading rolling stock maintenance companies in the UK, which specialises in overhauling components, refurbishment, modernisation, crash damage and incident repair in the rail industry. This is a new client for Reekie Machining, says Jared Reekie, director, which involves work on the rolling stock for Glasgow underground as well as UK rail services. We are happy to be building a strong relationship with RailCare, which in turn is establishing a strong reputation UK wide for its services

NORWAY CONTRACT SUCCESS

Reekie Machining has secured a significant contract from UK company CTC Marine for [[http://www.reekiemachining.co.uk/services/in_situ_machining, in-situ machining ]] on its multi-purpose oil & gas service vessel DeepCygnus, after having successful completed a similar contract for one of its sister ships in 2007. Reekie is to machine the deck of the DeepCygnus to allow the fitting of a removable reel for pipe laying work. The contract is to be completed in Norway within a four week timeframe to ensure maximum productivity for the client. MD Colin Reekie commented: “This contract is identical in every way to that completed last year for the same client, and we believe is a reflection of the positive relationships we have established with CTC and high standard of workmanship provided by the Reekie team last time around. A small group of time served turners and machine tool technicians are planning to travel to Norway shortly to complete the contract
